Until the mid of 1990s, people said that Clamp's mangas are too hard to be made as animes because of its splendor and delicate drawings. This was also proven when 'RG Veda' and 'Legend of Dragon Kings' were made into anime in the early 1990s; these two could not reproduce Clamp's drawings. Also, 'X the movie' was made with tremendous amount of budget but it was also failed because in that time 'X' the comics wasn't published enough to make a good story.

Magic Knight Rayearth is the first Clamp's-manga-based anime which has reached success in both quality of the anime and commercial aspect. This made Clamp to be active on providing their mangas as bases of the anime, such as Card Captor Sakura, X the TV series, Angelic Layer, Chobits, xxxHolic.

Hong's Personal Comment : I was pretty sad when nobody voted for this old masterwork. The drawings are not satisfying in today's taste, but I would say that Clamp never make us disappointing. The overall story of this anime is pretty good which is the one of factor that made this anime successful.
