1999-2000Anime ScreenedKnown to those who were there as the Year of Perfect Planetary Alignment, we screened: Cowboy BebopBack when it was just a twinkle in CN's eye, UCJAS was one of the few to see this series at this time. Outlaw StarNadesicoOne of the best SF anime ever made. KareKanoKareKano follows in the fine tradition of being an anime that UCJAS sees before anyone else. This is because the only group doing it at the time was the one Jon Sugerman belonged to. We got them because they came out of his Amiga. BerserkAnother UCJAS premiere, we were probably the first people to see the ending outside of Japan (and the fansubbers) as the final tapes were made specifically for Henry Lee. We had to wait almost a whole quarter for it, too. That was awful.

2001-2002Anime ScreenedFLCLOpinion on this swayed from "that was amazing" to "that was good for whatever THAT was." Introduced many of us to The Pillows and the concept of huge robots and guitars being pulled out of a young boy's forehead. Bad Anime NightBad anime night was conceived this year (I think), and amoung the bad anime shown was: Wannabes, dubbed Urusei Yatsura, and the City Hunter movie. Initial DSomehow making old Toyotas look cool (if blocky and poorly shaded in that low-budget CG way). Boys BeBrought from Asia in glorious legitimate DVD years before the US release. Suffered from wandering subtitles. InuyashaXLove HinaWhat? Megumi Hayashibara NOT in a lead role? What has the world come to?! Others?I think this is the year we showed (among other titles) Shaman King, Hikaru no Go, and Rave. LocationThe Main Screening Room during this reign moved from the traditional BSLC 001 to the now-infamous Harper 130 Internet Wayback MachineCheck out the old page here: http://web.archive.org/web/20020827113104/www.genjitsu.org/ucjas/
